PREMIUM COMPATIBILITY WITH YOUR FINISHED PRODUCTS The purity of Pure Performance base oils means that your additive packages can be optimized to meet performance objectives at lower treat rates and reduced cost. Your formulators won’t have to worry about compensating for the quality of the base stock in your finished products. You have more freedom in new product development.
Pure Performance base oils offer inherent advantages over conventional base oils that can improve the performance of your finished engine oils and other lubricants. Better viscosity control and reduced volatility help cut lubricant consumption and provide fuel economy benefits. This also enhances cold start operation. Your customers can expect improved equipment protection and extended lubricant life due to superior oxidation and thermal stability.

PREMIUM SERVICE Whether your base oil arrives by truck, rail or vessel, seasoned ConocoPhillips professionals will handle your order every step of the way, ensuring timely, reliable supply. And if you need technical support, our lubrication scientists are ready to help.

ADVANCED HYDROPROCESSING TECHNOLOGY. Using advanced hydroprocessing technology, ConocoPhillips converts crude oil molecules into extremely pure colorless products, virtually free of aromatics, polar compounds and sulfur. The result is a paraffinic base oil without the impurities that limit the performance of conventional base oils.

|
Here is how the process works:
|
- Feedstock is separated into distillates and vacuum gas oils.
- Waxy vacuum gas oil molecules flow to the hydrocracker to begin conversion.
- Hydrogen is introduced to saturate the molecules and remove impurities such as nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and heavy metals.
|
- Hydrocracking, under conditions of extreme temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst, converts aromatic molecules into saturated paraffins.
- The altered stock is noticeably lighter in color due to the absence of contaminants.
- Long waxy paraffin molecules are restructured into shorter, branched isoparaffins that resist gelling and improve low temperature pumpability.
|
- Hydrogen is introduced again to remove any remaining aromatics and impurities, enhancing the oxidation and thermal stability of the now colorless oil.
